I divided out one of the clivias today, and got three rather good-sized babies out of the deal. It’s funny, because I remember them fitting into smaller pots the last time I divided them, so I must have done it at an earlier growth stage.
Since I had the benefit of some plant largess from coworkers earlier in the year, I’m going to see if my three garden inclined coworkers would like to take them. Otherwise, I’ll pass them along to my mother, who seems to have developed a clivia waiting list.
On a side note, the muggies are definitely back. I did this work at 9:30 in the morning in my shady backyard, and was dripping in sweat by the time I was done (because lord knows, tamping down soil in a pot is hard work). I do hope this is the last gasp. I was really enjoying the preview of sweater weather we had this past week. I know I’m probably a heretic for saying so, but as much as I do enjoy summer, I really do look forward to Fall.
