Not only are the crab apples ripe, but half the tree is yellow. The yellow trees tend to start first around here, though we get the occasional young maple that will go an early red, but those are few and far between. I love this time of year. I went out shopping this weekend and picked up the inevitable sweater (and the shoes for work I’d really set out to get).
It’s also cool enough now to start Crockpot Monday, though my original need for this, that I had 5:00 coverage on Monday nights and had the worst time motivating myself to cook, is temporarily gone while I’ve been assigned outside my unit for a project. Still, I think it’s a good idea, so we’ll see how long I can stick today. Tomorrow’s recipe, already partially prepared and waiting in the fridge is Sloppy Joes. I love that it’s cool enough again to eat that kind of thing.
I’m still reading Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell (I’m in the mid 500’s page-wise). I’ll probably try to fit in a Books to Movie book, and maybe even an Armchair traveler book before I try Northanger Abbey. I’m at least sure I’ll get through Northanger Abbey, but the Gormenghast books are starting to make me a little nervous, though I’m sure things will be fine.
