Is there anything more beautiful then fresh tomatoes from the garden? Especially when they’re heirloom tomatoes, and therefore come in so many pretty colors? As you can see, the cherry tomatoes in my father’s garden have been going crazy. It’s nice to know that even though I don’t have the room/proper light for vegetables, I do still have them available to me. There are also regular tomatoes that look like they’re just about ready to ripen, so here’s hoping it stays warm long enough for that to happen. I’m all for sweater weather, but I wouldn’t mind sneaking in a few more tomatoes before that happens.
After staring at way too many pictures of cool socks, and in an effort to keep my hands busy while watching TV (and because I’m finding more and more that there’s not a lot I actually need to watch, rather than listen to), I decided to play around with knitting this weekend. I’d only tried it once before, in Girl Scouts, somewhere around 6th grade, and I remember it being oddly difficult. I won’t say I’m an expert at the moment (and in fact, I’m tempted to take a class, just because I feel like I must be holding the needles weirdly, as the illustrations in the book I got don’t quite make sense), I’m actually enjoying myself. A new addiction may have been born, especially since this is a heck of a lot more portable than my sewing.
In reading news, I’m fairly well underway with Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, and very much enjoying it, though it’s definitely living up to tome status. And, since we have a friend from England coming to stay with us for a week, I won’t be making the normal weekend progress on it. I’m sure I’ll be able to catch up next weekend, but I feel vaguely guilty to not be able to give it some attention this weekend. I’ll definitely have to do a Books to Movie lister next, or I’m going to start skewing wildly towards the RIP challenge in my reading time. Not that I’m sad to face this dilemma.
