I read Druids, the predecessor to this book, ages and ages ago, and I found myself wishing I’d reread it before reading this book. It wasn’t that this book was completely incomprehensible without having recently read Druids, but I felt like I was missing some of the flavor of the story, and why the characters were the way they were.
That being said, I have the vague feeling that this book had a smaller scope than the first. This was a quicker story about fitting into a new land, rather than the much larger story of why they had to leave their ancestral home. I’m now tempted to find Druids so I can compare flavors.
I definitely enjoyed the book. It had a good air of truth, even though I know we know very little about these people, and necessarily must invent our stories about them.
