Christmas item number two is done! (And as a side note, can I just say how much I miss it being light for at least a little while when I get home from work? This picture is not the best.)
Pattern: Nereid Gloves
Yarn: Socks that Rock Raven Clan in the Thraven colorway, medium weight
Needles: Size 2 DPNs
These are for my sister, and I’m pretty sure she’s going to love them. The pattern is fun, though all of the knitting through the back of the loops were leaving me a bit confused when I occasionally took a break and worked on the Brocade Leaves Sweater. For a bit, I feel like I didn’t know how to regularly knit anymore!
I didn’t enjoy this experience with the Raven Clan yarn as much as my last one. The undertones aren’t as vibrant in the Thraven, and it was one heck of a twisty skein. I found myself stopping every few rows just to let the dang thing unwind. I do like the finished project, but I’m probably not going to be in any hurry to try any more Socks that Rock anytime soon. Which is probably mostly unfair, but there are so many options out there, I don’t feel so bad about going elsewhere for the moment.
Next on the needles are some Spring Forward socks for my mother. I actually cast them on last night, and got a whole two rounds of ribbing done!
