Wild Hunt – Margaret Ronald

Read for the Once Upon a Time IV Reading Challenge.

Evie Scelan is a bike messenger in Boston who also happens to have a supernatural nose that makes her very handy at finding things. Just a few weeks earlier (as chronicled in the first book of this series, Spiral Hunt), she played a large roll in bringing down the Fiana, the organization that had ruled Boston’s magical undercurrent for centuries. Turns out, when you topple the big guys, people tend to think you’re going to take their place, as Evie quickly learns, as she begins encountering a number of interesting people. Add into the middle of this a client with a family ghost, and some supernatural problems her friend Nate is having, and things get a bit interesting.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series because of the novel approach to Celtic mythology. I will admit, I think I liked the first book better, but this was by no means a disappointing read. This story brings in the idea of the Wild Hunt, and tweaks it in an interesting way. I also enjoy seeing how the author works the real Boston into her supernatural world. Definitely an enjoyable read that I recommend highly.
