Knitting Notes

Vilai Socks

Pattern: Vilai Socks by Cookie A
Yarn: Mountain Colors Bearfoot in the Winter Sky colorway
Needles: 1.5 DPNs

My only planned bit of Christmas knitting is done! (And crappily lit in photos due to the snow coming down outside.) These are for my friend K, who requested them when she was visiting this summer. They’re going to England, so I made sure I finished them as early in the month as possible.

I really enjoyed this pattern. It’s a nice, long repeat, so it never got boring, and though you can’t tell from the picture, it’s got a lot of visual interest to it.

I’m still fond of the Mountain Colors yarn, which I used almost all of. This was the yarn I used to make my very first socks, which were a much simpler pattern. I’d had quite a bit of those skeins leftover, so it was a bit surprising how low I got with this skein (used all but 2 grams of a 100 gram skein).

I’m now going to attempt to make a baby hat and a toddler hat (for BF’s cousin’s new baby and big brother), as well as fingerless mitts for my sister. The hats need to be done by the 14th. So much for not scheduling much knitting for the holidays!
