Ruched Yoke Tee

Pattern: Adult Ruched Yoke Tee by AnneLena Mattison from the Spring 2011 Interweave Knits
Yarn: Cascade UtraPima in lovely green colorway
Needles: Size 7 circs

Crappy picture not withstanding, I’ve finished the Ruched Yoke Tee. I’m pretty happy with the fit, but think I’ll like it better after running it through the wash (yay cotton yarn!). I went up a needle size like normal, since I knit so tightly, but am not sure I really needed to, since it’s cotton (haven’t done anything in a large gauge cotton in a while, live and learn, I guess). But, since I can throw it in the washer and dryer, I think that’ll take care of the slightly over-sizedness of it all. I actually like the proportions in general.

For modifications, I am using the back as the front, and I added five extra rows before I started the waist shaping.

This was my first go with applied icord, mostly because this is the first time I had applied icord instructions that actually made sense to me. I do find it a little more time consuming than I’d like, but I can’t deny it looks good.

I now need to wax eloquent about the Cascade UltraPima yarn. I don’t do a ton of knitting with cotton, mostly because in my early knitting days, I used the cotton yarn from the craft stores, and couldn’t understand how anyone could enjoy knitting with such stiff stuff. It actually made my hands hurt.

Well, I’ve seen the light. This yarn is a dream. It’s surprisingly soft – while it’s no animal fiber, I definitely enjoyed working with it. And, there’s no splitting. I would totally use this yarn again. Cotton knitting is back on my radar screen.
