Sometimes, it’s not always good to read a sequel immediately open reading the book that came before it.
Having just read The Hidden Worlds, I had certain ideas of how the two main characters – Linnea and Iain – should be, and Linnea let me down a bit in this book. In the first book of the series, she was a strong woman, who risked being disowned by her family to take the only job she believed would save them, and once taking that job, did not allow the Pilots on Nexus to break her spirit (well, much, but that’s a nuanced conversation for another day). In this book, as the Cold Minds comes to attack Nexus and the other Hidden Worlds, she suddenly becomes home sick and wishy-washy. I confess to being a little irritated.
Still, the overall story was interesting, and I now need to do a little research, as I thought this was a duology, but there’s definitely room for more story.
Hi, Megan!
You're right, there's more story; this is a trilogy. The final book is THE DARK REACHES, in which Linnea travels far beyond the first two. In more than one sense. 🙂
I'm glad you enjoyed HW and CM enough to write about them, and I hope you will find DR. It does give Linnea's character a more satisfying resolution.

Thanks, Kristin. I found Dark Reaches on Amazon last night, and have some feelers out to get a copy. I'm definitely interested to see what happens when they get to Earth…
