This week’s haul is: leeks, garlic, bell peppers, red onions, winter squash, and sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes were an experiment this year, and Ralph said he didn’t expect much out of them, but they ended up with 1500 pounds, so they’ll definitely be doing them again, which is really exciting.
In cooking highlights, I was doing my best to use both apples and other CSA goodies, and come up with: a Sausage Skillet Dinner that used apples, and as well as CSA peppers, potatoes and garlic; an Unfussy Apple Cake, which I ate way more of than I should have in one sitting, and Blue Cheese Polenta with Vegetables – because I was in the mood for polenta, now that we’re back in comfort food weather.
