The final apple CSA delivery had six types: Golden Russet, Yellow Bellflower, Black Oxford, Winter Banana, Rome Beauty and Black Gilliflower. I think the Black Oxfords are definitely the prettiest this week.
This CSA has been really interesting. I got to try a whole bunch of apples types I’d never seen before, and it was nice to see that there are so many heirloom varieties out there, and nice to confirm that many taste really good.
For cooking highlights, last night I did grilled ham, gruyere and apple sandwiches with some of the Golden Grimes apples from the last delivery. You really can’t go wrong with cheese and apple.
