Plicate hat

Pattern: Plicate by Hunter Hammersen
Yarn: Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine in the Oceanic Mix Colorway
Needles: Size 5 Circ and DPNs

This hat took a little longer than it really should have, because I tore out the original medium version, and moved it up to an extra large.   (The pattern is written in such a way that you can use yarns of a wide variety of gauges, and I probably should have paid a little more attention to that section when picking sizing and needles to use for the yarn I wanted to use.   Oh well.  I know that now.)

The actual pattern is fairly simple (the chart is the pattern is really nicely done – the numbering made it super easy to find your place).    It’s also nice because you can vary the level of slouchy you want (I like to avoid too much slouch myself).   It’s a great little hat, all in all.

I do like this yarn – the pattern’s pretty airy, but this yarn is surprisingly warm, due to the alpaca content, which is nice.
