It is so strange to have this project over. I’ve had a recurring task set up at work to remind myself to make a note of the sky for the day, at my lunch time. I dismissed it for the last time on 12/23 (due to paid holidays, and some vacation), and that was such a strange feeling. Getting rid of the Evernote note I’ve had going for those notes was also bizarre.
I started out doing each day’s rows mostly on the day, but around about September switched to doing them in larger chunks at once. It wasn’t a slacking move, I just liked doing things together. Not sure what switched in my head to cause that.
The only color I needed more than one skein was Pool, though I bought another Mist, and it was a very near thing on that one. I think if I had it to do over again, I would have skipped the Ciel, and used Pool as the dark color. I also would have tried to come up with two slightly different whites to delineate cloud vs snow. (If it’s white in the winter months, it’s likely snow, but could be cloud. But then I used the same white for clouds in the summer. So that can be seen as a little weird.)
I really love having this visual record of the sky for the year. And it taught me a lot – I had never noticed the variation of cloud colors as well as I did when I had to pay attention for this, especially in the winter. A snow storm cloud is so different than a rain cloud.
