This is the last book in the Lyra collection for Kindle.
Eleret must go to the city of Ciaron to collect her mother’s things, after her mother is killed in battle. They are Cilhar, warriors, and Eleret, though young, is tried and true, though unfamiliar with the ways of the Imperial city.
Once she arrives and collects her mother’s packs, it becomes clear that someone is after something in the packs. Eleret quickly realizes it’s the raven ring- a family heirloom that Eleret didn’t even realize her mother had brought with her.
Eleret quickly falls in with a lord who’s studying to be a sorcerer, and a thief from one of the great thieving families. Together, they’re able to figure out who’s after the ring, and stop them.
This book is decent – the writing improves as they go along. I did finally realize that they seem very disjointed – I don’t have a good idea of where each book in the collection fits in the timeline of each world, and I’m not sure I like that. They’re ok reads, but I like some of Wrede’s later works better.
