Hunting Ground – Patricia Briggs

Anna and Charles, still only married a month, are off to Seattle on a mission for Charles’ father, the Marrok. I’m running behind where these books parallel the Mercy Thompson books, so this is just before the werewolves have decided to come out to mortals, and the Marrok wants to meet with the European werewolves before it happens. He’ll do it without their permission, but at least want to show he’s willing to help. Charles has a bad feeling about the whole thing, and convinces his father to let him go instead. Naturally, Charles was on to something.

Anna quickly finds herself the target of a kidnapping, and a few other things happen that’ll endanger the negotiations. It’s up to her and Charles to figure what the heck is going on, and salvage things.

This story ended up having an interesting twist on Arthurian legend, which I really enjoyed. I also continue to like Anna’s evolution as a werewolf – I’m interested to see where Briggs goes with her concept of an Omega.
