Zafira is the Hunter – the only person capable of hunting in the enchanted Arz Forest. Nasir is the son of the sultan, and has been turned by his father into an assassin. When they are both sent after a mythical book that may be able to restore magic to the people of their kingdom, they’re drawn together.
What I really liked about this book was the world building – it’s a very non-Western setting, and I really enjoyed that. Trope-wise though, it still had some fairly standard fantasy story themes going on. I will be interested to see where things go from here, because things are set up in such a way that pretty much anything is still fair game, so there’s definitely potential.
