Hit my first definite nope in the shrubbery beside the driveway. This is privet, which is non native, and therefore not something I’ll keep.

So after work on Thursday, I pulled out all the privet and the rest of what I could get of the multiflora rose. That does still leave the maple sapling in the back, which we’ll probably get in the fall (might as well take advantage of the leaves), but that’ll probably be the last of what I completely remove. Which has really opened up that space. I need to clear out the gravel (which I am not looking forward to), and the leaves, but I’ll probably leave it for a year or two so I can chase out whatever tries to pop back up before I actually add anything here.
