The Physicians of Vilnoc – Lois McMaster Bujold

It’s a measure of how much I trust this author that I read a story of hers about a plague. Because I can safely say that for the most part, too soon. (I have Connie Willis’ The Doomsday Book sitting in my TBR pile, and though I have heard nothing but good things about it, it’s going to sit there for while more.) But I knew Penric and Desdemona could steer me through a plague.

It’s really a pretty straightforward story – it’s Pen and Des that make it worth reading, and it’s handled with typical grace. Though I do think I’m glad it’s a short story and I didn’t have to wait too long to know that everything would be ok shortly.
