Murder of Crows – Anne Bishop

It’s interesting reading reviews of this book – people seem really divided about how badly humanity is portrayed in this book. Not that they started out looking too good in the first book of the series, but things get really grim in this second story.

I’m really intrigued by this world building where humans really are the bad party to the story – the natives of North America are not human, but also have the upper hand in their dealing with humanity, and the power to back up when they want to enforce their choices. This story definitely goes deeper into that – they start looking into where Meg (the blood prophet) came from, and it doesn’t look good for humanity.

So, interesting world building, and a very squirm-inducing look at colonialism, if you’re willing to go there.
