It’s been two years since the last book in the series, and we’re now following Queen Keeley’s next younger sister, Gemma. Gemma had left the family to become a war monk, and came back when their sister Beatrix was foretold to be the next queen. When it turns out that Beatrix is doing this with a great deal of treachery, including trying to kill Keeley, Gemma sticks around.
This book is just as full on as the last, and I really enjoyed it. I do still think I like Keeley as the main character a little better, but Gemma runs into more interesting people. This book ends on a fairly major cliffhanger, so I’ll definitely be interested to see where it goes from here.
