So it turns out the secret to not impulse buying half the garden center at a 75% off perennial sale is to not get a cart. It also helps that we had Friday off, so got in before the hoards. (We had Friday off because we were supposed to go to the third rescheduling of an April 2020 concert in Boston. They’ve postponed again, but the venue finally just cancelled altogether. So boo to that, but yay to being around for plants!)
Anyway, so I made it out with a $25 yellow red hot poker, and $18 sea holly and agastache. Plus, some full priced yellow allium bulbs and some labels. All for $28. Fall rocks!

Not that it looks like much now, but I got the red hot poker, the sea holly, the yellow alliums, and some muscari I already had into the front bed. And nearly killed myself doing it. Our soil is so very clay, so I was digging holes, filtering out the roots, pitch forking in some compost, and then finally planting. I’d meant to do some more bulbs and some veggie garden maintenance, but my arms protested too much to go on this morning.
