Konrad is the Malykant – the chief servant of the Malykt, god of death. He’s charged with bringing to justice murderers, for trying to take the Malykt’s job into their own hands.
This book is made up of four distinct stories, which I really liked. They have an Eastern European flavor to the names, and seem to be set in a Victorian era city. The city if Ekamet is well fleshed out, with the Bone Forest that surrounds it being a character of its own. There are several great side characters – it’s a really well drawn world. I picked this up for free, but would have been happy to pay for it.
