The Ruthless Lady’s Guide to Wizardry – C. M. Waggoner

Dellaria Wells is just trying to make her rent, and keep her mother off the street. She’s a fire witch with some power, but it’s not like that’ll make her money. Until the day that she bumbles her way into a job as one of the bodyguards to a young lady who’s headed out to the country for the traditional pre-wedding retreat, who also happens to have developed a price on her head. Who is behind the attempts on this lady’s life is fairly quickly found out, but the whys are where this story brings us.

Delly is a delightful narrator. The other main character is the child of two of the main characters in Unnatural Magic, and it’s lovely to see her grown up. This ends up being a great caper, as well as a lovely tale of Delly growing as a wizard, and a person. I think it’s my favorite of the two books in the series, and the first book had some really interesting worldbuilding that I enjoyed greatly.
