Garden Notes

Well, snow’s gone again. At least for a little while. We’re apparently going to get a nor’easter next week, so it’s just a question of where that sets up to see if we get snow or rain. At least if it snows in April, it tends to melt quickly.

I did finally get into the back corner of the yard to survey our damage. (The ground back there is best described as squidgy.) The evergreen trees all around are what took the brunt of the damage – having needles was apparently not a good thing with the weight of the ice.

The worst of it is my poor trellis. It’s heavy plastic, which was just not meant to take the weight of two limbs the size of my legs on either end. So back to square one for that section of the back bed. I do have a bean trellis, so the runner beans can go on that this year, and I’ll just have to rearrange the rest of what I planned. Oh well. It was nice while it lasted.
