Blood and Ash – Deborah Wilde

Interesting magical world – it’s based on Jewish magical mythology, where magic was brought in based on heritage (shocker – there are a lot more people of Jewish decent than you’d think), but it’s an all or nothing thing. Ashira Cohen always thought she as mundane, even having a Nefesh father. She’s made a life as a PI, but is certainly aware of the Nefesh house in the area.

A new case opens up her magic, but it’s magic that’s not supposed to exist. So, she has to team up with the (super hot) head of the local magic house to solve the case and figure out her magic.

This was fun. I did like the magic system, but the relationships were definitely nothing new or ground breaking.
