Point of Honour – Madeleine E. Robins

I really liked the premise of this book – set in Regency times (in a slightly alternate world where the Prince of Wales is not yet regent, and married differently than in our own timeline), Sarah Tolerance is a fallen woman. She was ruined by her family’s fencing master, and had a lovely life with him on the Continent. But he’s gone now, and she’s back in London. Her brother would prefer her dead, but she’s found sanctuary with her aunt, who runs a brothel. Sarah doesn’t work there – she’s become a private detective of sorts.

The particular story of this book involves a missing fan, and I will say, I did not see all the twists and turns at the end coming. I liked Sarah, and how she’s trying to make a different life for herself than what she should have options for. I was a little annoyed by the romance in this book, so I’m entirely sure I’ll continue (especially with the next book being $14.99 on Kindle), but it definitely has promise.
