This is fun book. Edith is a cleryman’s daughter in vaguely Victorian England. They’ve never known much about his childhood – he was sent off to boarding school very young, and never went home. So it’s a great suprise when a letter reaches them that his brother and his nephew have died, leaving him the owner of Wormwood Abbey, and guardian of his three nieces.
The abbey is appropriately mysterious, and Edith and her cousin Gwendolyn get off on the appropriate wrong foot, which makes plenty more sense when the secrets of Wormwood Abbey start unraveling.
This book is mainly set up – I am interested to see where things go from here, now that all the secrets are out.
