Lia is the First Daughter of Morrighan, meant to have the sight, but not actually gifted. Still, her father has arranged her marriage to the prince of a neighboring kingdom, one that they’ve been at odds with for a while. She tries to go along with the plan, but on the day of her marriage, ends up fleeing.
She and her friend Pauline flee to Pauline’s hometown, and for the first time in her life, Lia feels free. Not long after, two young men show up in town. What Lia doesn’t know is that one is the jilted prince, and the other is an assassin sent to kill her.
I happened into this author by accidentally starting the second series in this world first, so I went into this with an inkling of what was actually going on. It’s a really interesting world – it’s post apocalyptic, but that unfolds slowly, so I’m interested to get more of the story behind that. And I really like the way the love triangle is set up – things are not as they initially appear, and all three of our characters are apparently set to go in quite the journey.
