Stone and Sky – Ben Aaronovitch

I enjoyed this book – more or less the entire Folly crew, as well as Bev, the twins, and Peter’s extended family, are up in Aberdeenshire for a holiday. And some incident cryptid hunting. The point of view switches between Abigail and Peter, which I rather enjoyed.

This book seems to be very controversial in the fandom. I kind of get it – it’s not like the stories that have come before. But Peter is changing as he gets older and has a family, and I don’t mind widening the scope to bring in other people while Peter seems like he’s taking a bit of a break to raise his kids. (And it’s not like he’s really taking a break. You can’t do that when you had kids with a river goddess.)

I did like the story – we get selkies, and a nice flavor of Aberdeen. And I really appreciated Abigail’s chance for a fairly grown up adventure.
