In this book, there are four parallel worlds that all have a London, and only certain people can travel between those worlds. Grey London (our London) has no magic, Red London has magic in balance, White London’s magic is waning, so it’s become the source of power struggles, and Black London had magic take over so completely that it’s been closed off from the other worlds.

Kell is one of the last of the people (Antari) that can move between the worlds. He happens to be from Red London, and while visiting White London is given an artifact from Black London that may just destroy all the worlds. He ends up teaming up with a girl from Grey London, named Lila Bard, and they struggle to return the artifact to Black London, and erase the danger to all the worlds.

This was an enjoyable book – good set up. I have some ideas about Lila that I’m interested to see confirmed, and I’d like to see where Kell goes from here. I’ll definitely keep an eye on this series to see where it goes next.
