This is companion book to the Kate Daniels series – it’s the story of her best friend, Andrea Nash, coming to terms with the fact that she’s been outed as a werehyena (and a beastkin werehyena at that). There’s a companion Kate Daniels story at the back of the book that tells what’s going on with Kate in the times between when she interacts with Andrea in the main part of the book.
I enjoyed this book. I love how strong the female characters are in this series. Andrea’s got some very serious issues to work though here, and it’s nice to see the gamut of emotions she goes through – it’s not all nice, but it is all pretty real. (Well, ok, as real as you can get with vampires and various weres in the story.) I really should have read this earlier – it takes place a little further back then where I currently am in Kate’s story line.
