The trellis down. It was already tipping, and I didn’t have time to take it down when we had a hurricane bearing down on us. Fortunately, the hurricane was more or less a bust in Southern Maine, but I took that as a sign, and just snipped all the bean stems this morning. I’ll let it dry out a bit before I try to remove it.
So it’s looking a little barer out there. I had to trim back quite a bit of the tomatoes this morning – the blight is bad. I definitely need to plant back on the other side next year. This may be the last hurrah for this year, but we’ll see.
I did have a fair number of fairly dry runner bean seed pods, although the actual beans still seem a bit moist, so I’m going to dry those out before I store them.
The tongue of fire beans on the other hand, are quite well dried out, so those are in jars. I definitely have enough to make something out of those – maybe a pot of baked beans sometime this winter.
