The tomatoes are gone. After the last blight removal chop, which was drastic, they just weren’t doing much. I decided to cut my losses.
I also pulled the netting off the brassicas. At some point over the week, a hole developed. I have no idea how long it had been open. I managed to patch it up on Thursday, but when I went out yesterday, there was cabbage moth inside. So figured I’d cut my losses there as well. The romesco never really did anything, partially because it was really too big for my set up. So those leaves were pretty heavily chewed. I cut off the worst of them, but left some. I’m hoping the critters will go there first, and maybe leave the collards and kale alone. This morning, I did notice a sparrow in the collards – she was nosing around the stems, so maybe opening them up has introduced some extra pest control.
I will definitely be reevaluating how/if I want to do brassicas next year.
