Pattern: Iola Hat by Triona Murphy
Yarn: Atlantic Coast Yarns Shannon DK
Needles: Size 6 circs and DPNs
I really wanted a quick project after working on the In Dream shawl for so long, so I went for a hat. Which I promptly managed to flub up at the crown, so I basically knit this twice. (I really need to remember to trust my gut more often and not power through when things aren’t right. Just because I think I can fix things doesn’t mean I’m not setting myself up for massive failure a few rows further down the pattern. And it was entirely my own fault – I misread something basic.)
So, my own idiocy not withstanding, this is a great pattern. Easy to follow, and I enjoyed the cables.
I like this yarn – my BIL and SIL picked it up for me in Ireland. It’s nice and tweedy, and feels like it’ll be warmer than many of my hats because of all the tweedy nubs.
