Well, Fall definitely happened. We are no longer in the land of weirdly warm temps. I’ve been going out in my lunch hour and clearing out the back bed. The greens are still out, and I really need to de-strawberry everything, but I’m ready to get some seaweed, empty out the compost barrel, and straw over everything for the season.
I got the dahlia tubers out fairly early last week – this monster in the front is the one I grew from seed. It definitely liked the conditions in the ground this year. I did trim a fair amount of that off while cleaning it up for storage, but that is by far the largest tuber set I’m attempting to overwinter. I’m trying the garage again – we’ll see how it goes.
