Pattern: Lilah Shawl by Heather Storta
Yarn: Malabrigo Lace in the Polar Morn Colorway
Needles: Size 3 circs
Since this shawl is a graduation present for my friend L, and she’s coming up to see me this week, I made sure I blocked the shawl this weekend. I’m really happy with how it turned out. I made this particular pattern because L studied ornithology, and I couldn’t resist the idea of the bird wings.
I managed to make the large with two skeins of Malabrigo lace. The only modification I had to do was do two instead of three repeats of the border pattern. Other than that, it’s as written. The pattern is rated piquant on Knitty, but I found it to be pretty straightforward. I’d easily recommend this to a fairly novice lace knitter.
I definitely love the Malabrigo lace yarn. It’s wonderful to work with, and the finished product is so very soft. I’ll very willingly work with this yarn again.
My biggest lesson for this pattern? If I want to make anything this size, or bigger, again, I need to invest in more blocking boards. And I really miss having a real guest bed I could have set this up on.
That is GORGEOUS, Megan!! L is going to love it so, so much. Wow!
Thanks 🙂 I can't wait to give it to her.
