These flowers are all from our drive through Vermont to Montreal, but my best sighting was one I couldn’t get a picture of. Somewhere between Montpelier and Burlington, there’s a section of I89 where the southbound lanes are upslope from the northbound lanes, and the median is wide enough to support a mature stand of trees. Suddenly, there was a carpet of White Trillium (Trillium grandiflorum, Melanthiaceae) in that section of the median. There was no way I could get a picture, and it was over so quickly, but it was one of my favorite sights on that day of the trip.
