Back on the last day of May, I cast on Anne Hanson’s Palimpsest Stole, using some Knitpicks Alpaca Cloud yarn (Horizon colorway) I’ve had in my stash for a while.
I bought this pattern back in March 2011, and it’s a good thing I didn’t try it until now. It’s true lace, with the pattern on both sides, and it definitely took a little while (and three separate cast ons) to finally wrap my head around reading the chart correctly. It’s going along fine now, but my definite note to self for true lace is read all the instructions very carefully before starting so I don’t make any completely bone head moves that I can only fix by ripping out what I’ve already done (the last redo was caused by me completely misinterpreting the pattern repeats, which I really do know better then to do. At least the first two were more inexperience.)
I really like the Alpaca Cloud yarn – and I love the color, which is discontinued, sadly. (I bought the yarn even further back than the pattern – it’s been hanging out since February 2008, when I bought it in a fit of optimism that did not match my abilities at the time.)
