Arthur Penhaligion has returned to our world thinking that he was done with the strange House he’d found himself in on Monday. But, as soon as he returned to the regular world, he finds a new enemy in Grim Tuesday, and he’s forced back to the House to take the second key from Grim Tuesday, to save another region of that strange realm.
I always like Garth Nix books because he comes up with such interesting twists on the idea of magic – and the House is a fun concept of the formation of the universe. This particular story takes place in the pits that mine Nothing, and Arthur has an interesting time finding his way through that.
This is a fun series. It definitely skews younger than the Abhorsen trilogy, but not in a bad way. And since it’s younger, it’s a quick read. Now, if I could just find a used copy of the next book…
