The Decade Quilt is done.
I actually finished it up on Sunday night, but haven’t been able to photograph it in anything approaching decent light until today.
I started collecting the fabric for this about ten years ago. It’s all celestial or sky themed, so I decided to make it a postage stamp quilt to not break up the pattern. I did however, arrange the colors in such a way that it’s the sun in the middle, darkening out to the night sky at the edges.
So why did it take me so long to make this? Many reasons. The first time I cut it, I was naïve enough to not measure precisely. You can imagine how that went. Once I was able to remedy that, I had to wait a while to get sewing machine #2. I got the top put together pretty quickly after that. So then I sat on it forever while trying to figure out what to do for the back. And then there was the bias binding creation fiasco. But hey, it’s done now! And it makes a great lap quilt for knitting and watching TV.
