Garden Notes

Garden activity is starting to ramp up. I got the dahlias out in the pots on my lunch break on Thursday. I did have to get rid of one (cactus Tamboro), which had molded. Only some had sprouted, and all of them had when I planted last year, so we’ll see if that bodes ill. The best sprouted one (Creme de Cognac) is already poking out of the soil as of yesterday.

Here is my farmer’s market haul from Saturday – pictured inside because of the insane amount of rain we had yesterday. I should mention, we’ve had rain pretty much every weekend of April and May so far. It’s getting old. Yesterday was particularly bad – it’s still fairly wet out today, even with the brilliant sunshine and warmth we managed to get.

Because I knew that rain was coming, I held off on getting the seedlings out to harden off until today. This is the inside batch – three kinds of peppers, zinnias and gem marigolds.
