This series is a very interesting mash up of fairy tale tropes. In this story, we meet Cass, twin sister to Avalon, who we’ve met in the last book. Cass escaped the gingerbread house where Ava was held hostage. She never stopped looking for her sister, and has been traveling around doing odd jobs to meet people that may be able to help.
Lenore is a unicorn farmer. Most people see alpacas, but she knows what they really are. And she’s also a Spinster – part of a guild that knows spinning magic. She’s always believed it means she needs to be alone.
Cass, Ava and Lenore are all about to collide due to Helene, the godmother. I am fascinated to finally find out what her angle on everything is. She seems like a mastermind sometimes, but other times, seems like she might be as trapped as the characters in these stories, whose lives she’s been managing.
