The garden is filling in nicely. I planted more marigolds and calendula today that my father sent home with me last week.
It’s funny, the creme de cognac dahlia put out three blooms, and then seemed to go back on pause with the rest of them. The new dinnerplate dahlia is finally budding, and a couple others look like they may join soon.

In further experiment news, we have an artichoke! We bought this to let it go to thistle, so we’ll see how long that takes. Weirdly, it’s still pretty short. The plants I’ve seen in gardens can get quite tall. That might be because it’s in a pot, but it’s a pretty big pot, and the dahlias also seem smaller this year. So might be the weather conditions.
