Knitting Notes

There’s been a development with the Vivid blanket. The yarn I made the original one in is no longer available, so I ended up going with Cascade yarn. The original was in fingering weight, but I liked the colors in the Superwash Sport better, so decided to go with that. Sport’s just the next size up from fingering, so surely the same amount (since I didn’t use all of the skeins the last time) will be enough. Right?

I’m sure you can see where this is going. I had planned to make four squares of each color, and maybe add a fifth. I got all the way to the last row of the third square in the first color, and ran out of yarn.

I had a good think – I like the size of the squares I got, so I think the best thing to do is just order another skein of each color. That’ll more than cover five squares if I decide to go there, and give me extra yarn for sewing the squares together.

This does mean I need another project to work on while I wait for the yarn, so I cast on the Moments sweater by Rachel Illsley. This is using yarn I had originally bought for another one of her sweaters that didn’t work out. Back to stash busting!
