The Near Witch – V. E. Schwab

Lexi lives in the small village of Near, where everyone knows each other, and magic is there, but also a thing of the past.    Still, they distrust strangers in Near.    So when a stranger is seen near the village just as children start to go missing, Lexi struggles to solve the mystery of what’s happening.

This is a reprint of the author’s first published work, and I think it’s good to know that going into it.    It’s a lovely little fairy tale, and good work, but it’s over quickly, and knowing that it’s an early work makes that quickness more respectable.
