I picked this book up right before Halloween, because it was so seasonally appropriate.
No one wants to live at Castle Drax, including the Vexx family, its current tenants. It’s cold, and complete falling apart. So Lulu, the daughter of the current Count Vexx, is doing her best to fix the place up to sell it. Her perpetually dour father and the summoning circle in the basement are working against her.
This book is lovely fluff. You know they’re never going to sell the castle, but Lulu is so intent on trying to keep her father and the ragtag family of “servants” they’ve collected together and happy that you can’t help but root for her. It was a great Halloween read.
