I decided to throw all caution to the wind, and cast on the Sockdown March Mystery sock the day before yesterday. The theme of the month is lace, and it’s designed by Kristi Geraci. I’m using Tess’ Designer Yarns Peruvian Sock yarn in a lovely blue and green variegated colorway. It’s probably a good thing that I’m getting the instruction for this in dribs and drabs, because this yarn is a merino, alpaca, silk and nylon mix, and is so lovely to work with. The Knitpicks yarn I’m using for my other pair of socks this month is no competition at all. I probably wouldn’t be touching it if I had to choose between the two.
I’m extremely fortunate that Tess’ yarn is local yarn. I’d been sitting on this skein for a little while, and now that I’ve felt how lovely it is to work with, I suspect I’ll be making a stocking run at some point when I’m in that section of town.
The pattern is fun so far. There’s some simple cabling and twisted stitches. Nothing super completed, but still interesting. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what comes next.
