Pattern: Tilting Cable Socks by Chrissy Gardner, from Interweave Knits, Winter 2007
Yarn: Plymouth Happy Feet in color #14
Needles: Size 1.5 DPNs
For the first time, I was unable to finish a pair of Sockdown socks in the allotted two months for the challenge. These should have been for November’s challenge, but between Christmas knitting and my holiday schedule, I wasn’t quite able to get them done by 12/31/09. I’m ok with this, but a little bummed.
I really enjoyed this pattern. The pattern repeat is large, which is my preference, and it’s interesting. They do tend to run a little on the small side (and I’m not the only one to say this). If I ever make another pair, I’ll go up a needle size.
I’m not sold on the Plymouth Happy Feet yarn. It’s a little tough on the hands while knitting. I’ll definitely be interested to see how it wears. I do have to say that I’m totally in love with the color.
I’m sitting out January’s Sockdown. None of the categories did much for me, and this will give me a chance to finish Charlie’s socks, and work more on the Haruha scarf, which I haven’t touched in about two months. After that, I’ll be ready to start back up with Sockdown in February.
