Pattern: Rivergrass by Wendy Johnson
Yarn: Sundara sock in the Pine over Gold colorway
Needles: 1.5 DPNs
I’ve finished my first socks for the current cycle of Sockdown, using one of the pattern I received from the Sock Yarnista club. This was my second pair of toe up socks, and the short row heel is definitely getting easier the more I do it. I liked the pattern, but I’m discovering I like a slightly large pattern repeat. I have the urge to stop after the end of a pattern repeat, which gets counter productive pretty fast when you’re dealing with four rows at a time. Not to say I won’t do short pattern repeats again, but given a choice between two in front of me, the longer repeat will probably win.
I enjoyed working with the Sundara yarn, but I confess it’s not quite the cure for cancer it’s almost made out to be online. It’s a good, solid yarn, and I like her color sense, but it won’t break my heart if I don’t buy any more anytime soon.
I’m not sure if I’ll be doing October’s Sockdown challenge. I’ve resolved to make my father and C socks for Christmas, which would work out well with the men’s sock challenge this month, but I’m also doing a swap in a week or so, so I’m holding out on ordering yarn for their socks until I know if I want to buy anything for the swap. So if I don’t manage to get any yarn by the end of the month, I’ll be skipping October’s challenge.
