It finally feels like freakin’ Fall! (Well, ok, these pictures were taken in the insane heat on Saturday, but they sure look fallish! Can I tell you how annoying it is to have to pack for a simple overnight trip away when they’re projecting a 20 degree difference between days? At least Sunday felt as fallish as these pictures look!) I was down in Mass for the weekend, where I was able to hang out with friends, enjoy some excellent sushi and attend a 2nd birthday party where we (a group of college friends) had far more fun with the birthday boy’s dinosaur collection than he did (he was well distracted by a Leap Frog talking alphabet gift). It was a good weekend.
I’m still in the middle of Titus Groan, and may be able to move it to singular tome status for the R.I.P. Challenge, rather than including Gormenghast in the mix as well. It’s taking me forever to get through. Don’t get me wrong, I do like the book. The author’s word painting is amazing. However, I’m running into the same problem I have with poetry. I’m a fast reader. I’m having to beat myself over the head to slow down enough to appreciate the book, and it’s killing me. Really sad, I know, but my speed issues are the main reason I stick to straightforward prose for most of my reading.
In knitting news, I’ve finished my vest (well, except for finding and sewing on the buttons, but that’s not really knitting so I’m not counting that). Hurray! And, I’ve found two more projects to attempt, a scarf and a sweater. I’ll be buying yarn for those on Wednesday, as the shop where I’m taking lessons has by far the best selection of yarn in the area.
